On the Campaign Trail

When I announced my campaign for Rhode Island Senate District 17, I did so because I believe our communities deserve leadership that listens first, shows up consistently, and works collaboratively to solve problems.

Over the last several weeks, I've had conversations with neighbors in Lincoln, North Smithfield, and North Providence about healthcare affordability, rising costs, housing, education, and what it means to build a community where families can thrive. While the issues vary, the message is the same: people want leaders who are accessible, practical, and focused on getting things done.

As a psychologist, healthcare leader, wife, and mother of three, I've spent my career helping people navigate complex challenges. Those experiences continue to shape how I approach this campaign by listening carefully, seeking common ground, and focusing on solutions.

Thank you for being part of this journey. Every conversation, volunteer shift, donation, and word of encouragement helps us build momentum.

The declaration of candidacy has been filed but I'm not officially on the ballot until I've gathered endorsement signatures. We have until July 10th to gather 100 signatures to secure the nomination. Be on lookout, we'll be asking for your signature. Reach out and we can make sure meet you.

June has been filled with opportunities to connect with neighbors throughout the district.

This month, our campaign:

  • Expanded our volunteer team

  • Increased canvassing efforts

  • Knocked on hundreds of doors

  • Attended local community events and neighborhood gatherings

  • Outreach to community leaders and advocates

Donate today and help us build a stronger campaign.

Fundraising Update

We've just closed a solid second quarter of fundraising. Thanks to all who have generously supported me.

As we enter the third fundraising quarter, we're working to reach an important milestone.

Our goal is to raise an additional $5,000 to start the quarter.

Why does this matter?

Fundraising allows us to:

• Reach more voters

• Print campaign literature

• Host community events

• Expand volunteer outreach

• Build the infrastructure needed to run a competitive campaign that flips the seat from a 10 year Republican incumbent

Every contribution makes a difference.

Whether it's $10, $25, $50, or more, your support helps us continue building momentum across the district.

If you've been considering making your first contribution, or ready to contribute again, now is a great time.

We Need Your Help

I've have been busy knocking doors and talking with voters across the district.

The issues we hear most often include:

• Affordability and rising costs

• Access to healthcare

• Support for working families

• Housing concerns

• Education and opportunities for young people

• Protecting the character of our communities

These conversations shape our campaign and remind us why local elections matter.

Voices from the Community

"It's about time we had our first woman Senator for the District"

"We don't have to agree on everything but we need to listen to one another and let people's perspectives be heard"

"I am so upset with politics that I am not sure I even want to participate anymore in the process but you have made me rethink that...you are exactly what we need!"

Thank you to everyone who has welcomed us into your neighborhoods and shared your perspectives.

Volunteer Shout-Out

Alexandria (Alex)

While she is home from college studying political science and economics, Alex offered her time without having any other experience canvassing or being a part of a campaign. She has learned quickly and become a go-to canvasser, as well as social media videographer! Your commitment and enthusiasm make a difference every day.

Volunteer Spotlight

Thank you to the volunteers who have spent time knocking doors, attending events, helping with logistics, and spreading the word throughout the community.

Coming Soon!

Campaign Kickoff Event

We're excited to officially launch our campaign this summer with a community kickoff celebration.

This event will bring together supporters, neighbors, volunteers, community leaders, and friends to celebrate the growing momentum behind our campaign and share our vision for District 17.

More details, including date, location, and RSVP information, will be announced soon.

Stay tuned. We hope you'll join us.

Coffee Chats with Nelly

One of my favorite parts of campaigning is simply sitting down and talking with people.

I'll be hosting regular "Coffee Chats with Nelly" at local coffee shops throughout the district.

No speeches. No formal agenda.

Just an opportunity to ask questions, share concerns, discuss issues important to you, and get to know one another.

Watch our social media pages for upcoming dates and locations.

Have a favorite local coffee shop you'd like us to visit? Let us know.

Walk with Nelly

The Blackstone River Bikeway is one of the treasures of our community, and this summer I'll be hosting a series of informal walks along the path.

These walks are another opportunity for residents to connect, ask questions, and talk about the future of our communities while enjoying the outdoors.

Whether you're a regular walker, or simply looking for a chance to connect with neighbors, we'd love to have you join us.

Upcoming dates will be announced soon.
